CJ7 vs Kung Fu Dunk

-=Warning: This may be a very long post.=-

You may probably have watched both of these movies by now, but if you don't, let me share my point of view. :p Okay, as usual my reviews always sux big time but I'm telling you this anyway..hehehe...

CJ7...for my first impression seeing the trailer, I've made up my mind that I'm gonna hate it. Despite it looked funny when I saw the kid screaming crazily, I thought the movie seems to be too "Fake-ey" if there's such a word. Then I watched the 2nd version of the trailer and saw this cute lil' green thingy and I said to myself, well that is cute, could it be funnier than I thought? With 'Kung Fu Dunk' playing on the same day, I was not really that interested to watch CJ7. But as a movie addict, I wanted to watch both so I decided to do one thing. Watch the boring movie first than watch the awesome one later. Meaning, if the first one was that bad, at least I enjoy the next movie and feels better. If I did the other way, I might have just regret the later part and whine all about it. Worst plan, I intended to watched both on the same day.

Unfortunately, when me & Poq sister arrived at the cinema, Kung Fu Dunk [KFD] was already played half an hour earlier and CJ7 would be playing in 10 minutes time but could not watch the KFD continuously after that as the times of show had clashed. We decided to watch CJ7 then and catch up with KFD today.

How good can CJ7 be? My call: Hilariously Cute! I found it very funny, Cute and Sad. The story focused more on the kid and the Cute alien dog rather than Stephen Chow so anyone who expects it as another of Stephen's Chow comedic movie, it ain't much the same. This time Stephen Chow can be considered as the dessert of the story. The little boy is amazingly funny and he has a lot to laugh at especially with his thousandth expressions. Such an adorable kiddo. What is more adorable is the bubbly cutey, squeezy "alien dog"called CJ7.

I wish I had that lil thing. It's just too cute to handle.hahaha.. The movie was simple but good for laughs. The sad thing about the movie is..err... should I spoil this to you guys? Oh what the heck! Don't continue if you don't want to know cause I'm telling you this, the saddest part of the story is when the little boy's father died in an accident at work and the boy cried so much it definitely touched your heart. Especially when he said, he was so tired and just wanted to sleep and said that he knows his father will come back when he wakes up the next day. I could not stop crying myself seeing that whole scene. Don't believe me? I even heard a guy sniffing loudly on the same row we sat. People are in tears! Very touchy you know. :p

The Father & Son bonding will set you in tears.

On the whole, I can say I love this movie, unexpectedly outstand my previous judgement. I rated it for myself an 8.5 out of 10. Unbelievable eih!

Okay I got a surprising news I've just found out. That lil' kid whose a boy in the movie was actually a Girl in real life, Xu Jiao, a 9-year-old little girl from the Chinese mainland. Wow, no wonder 'he' looks really adorable. :p

Synopsis:
Ti is a poor father who works all day, everyday at a construction site to make sure his son Dicky Chow can attend an elite private school. Despite his father's good intentions to give his son the opportunities he never had, Dicky, with his dirty and tattered clothes and none of the "cool" toys, stands out from his schoolmates like a sore thumb. Ti can't afford to buy Dicky any expensive toys and goes to the best place he knows to get new stuff for Dicky--the junk yard! While out "shopping" for a new toy for his son, Ti finds a mysterious orb and brings it home for Dicky to play with. To his surprise and disbelief, the orb reveals itself to Dicky as a bizarre "pet" with extraordinary powers. Armed with his "CJ7" Dicky seizes this chance to overcome his poor background and shabby clothes and impress his fellow schoolmates for the first time in his life. But CJ7 has other ideas and when Dicky brings it to class, chaos ensues.
Genres: Action/Adventure, Art/Foreign, Comedy and Science Fiction/Fantasy
Running Time: 1 hr. 26 min.

Kung Fu Dunk... Finally I watched it just today, and I already heard so many good thumbs up review of this movie before watching it. I, myself, was excited after watching its trailers. So what's my review on this one? Okay let me tell you the good stuffs, I love the Kung Fu thingy, the choreography of the movie, I love the times when Jay Chou had his Kung Fu fights at the big dragon club, I love the way he threw the tin cans to the bin, I love the way he plays the basketball, I love the Kung Fu song they play in the movie and I love most, are the two handsome Japanese looking guys that are in his Basketball team. *Drools* hehehe.. Bo-Lin Chen & Baron Chen are definitely a drool, a Taiwanese if not mistaken and Bo lin got a BLOG that i don't understand. Teeheee!! .

If that's the good stuff, what's the bad? Well, if you are looking for a hilarious movie, this one's not it. Its funny but not hilarious. It made me smile, a few laughs but not enjoying my laughs that much as CJ7. The action was great , Jay Chou do acted coolly. In the movie, he was sort of an"innocently arrogant" lad but you just couldn't hate him. He's good with his moves but of course, the movie has this typical Hong Kong aura movie. I don't know how to describe it but it's a bit typical. Whatever. I like it though and I rate this a 7.5 out of 10.

Synopsis:
Shi-Jie (Jay Chou), grew up in a martial arts school and is well-trained in kung-fu. With his kung-fu skills and good reflexes, Shi-Jie excels in basketball by mastering the slam dunk technique. Wang-Li (Eric Tsang), who is trying to locate Shi-Jie's real family, invites him to join the university's basketball team in hope of making some money. Shi-Jie faces new challenges while trying to blend in with the basketball team members Ting-Wei (Chen Bo-Lin) and Xiao-Lan (Baron Chen). With the upcoming basketball championship and the appearance of Li-Li (Charlene Choi), will the team members set aside their differences and personal feelings for the love of the game?

To my fellow kambangness Zhoe, I guess this review shocked you, I know, somehow I like CJ7 more than KFD. Probably because I needed a laugh, big time now hahaha... but it's just a point lesser so it's not much of a difference. Each has its good point, and I do agree with you those 2 lads in 'KFD' are such a cutey..hehehe...

Madamoiselle: Random post

It had been 2 weeks of 'hyper' with a lot of things I had to do and finally, I can rest! Tired!! When it finally ends, I could only feel aches on my body as if I've been doing a sudden intensive workout! I am sooo totally drained out.Phew! Luckily, today's a holiday and waking up early was not in my list this morning. I got up just in time for a Festive visit cum free lunch and more ang pows. hahaha...

Anyway, I'm in love with this flower. It's a Chrysanthemums. I am not a flower type of girl but seeing this, made me fall in love. Beautiful things just makes you happy and this flower does makes me happy. I love the way it blooms and it's been sitting in my room blooming happily for 3 days already. Here's some pose of my new baby... :p

Beautiful ain't it? It has been posing around my room and I took lots of snaps before it wilts in the next few days. :p Got it just to replace my previous gloomy times.

Next,
What's New??

I went to Hua Ho Delima yesterday and spotted a new bakery shop. It was perfectly in front of Hua Ho, and they had "ORANGE" all over the place, call it strategic. You won't miss this place. It's called "LOF Bakery". Cool name I'd say.

So far I 'lof' it. The place is simple and spacious and nice. Yes, we need spacious bakeries please. Some bakeries are just too small to fit the crowds. The cakes are a beauty and the prices are affordable. Haven't tried it though but the buns and muffins were nice. I love their donuts!

What's in the movies?

It's the chinese movie mania this week as the Chinese New year falls today. The long awaited Stephen Chow's comedy 'CJ7' is now on the show and so is Jay Chou's latest movie "Kung Fu Dunk". Coincidentally, their sir names sounded the same and their movies were played on the same day. I love Jay Chou's songs especially from the 2002 album ...if I'm not mistaken. I already forgot the name. Anyhow, I have to see these 2 movies and planning to see one of them tomorrow. I guess I'll be watching the funny CJ7 first.

p.s : Trinity, your tag is on the way..hehehe..I'll post it once done eih..Sorry for the delay :)

Madamoiselle sees 'Rambo 4'

Movie again!

I can't help it. If it's not about food, it's definitely about movie. It feels 'empty' without going to the movies at least once a week. An addiction that I am so used to since a year ago. Two days ago, my Poq sister insisted to watch the 'Rambo 4'. I was reluctant to go because I never liked 'Rambo'. But since I owed her a movie as I had turned her down the other day and she had accompanied me for my shopping instead, I agreed to just go along.

As usual, we like to catch up the 5pm show. I don't like night shows because I always ended up feeling so tired and sleepy and usually, i don't want to get out of the house once i got home after work. Very tiring bah! I'd rather blog at nite hehehe. Anyhow, The 5pm show is perfect as we can get cheaper tickets too..*wink*..well, its worth it for someone who goes to the cinema at least once a week.

So, Rambo it is and what's my reaction after i watched it? WOW!! The movie was indeed a good one. This is the first time I ever liked "Rambo". It was really scary. Too many bloodsheds, killings, tortures and dead people. It sure gave me a chill as it really did looked real. I was sure the real thing happened that way out there. No, I don't mean rambo, but the scene of the villagers and the killings. I was totally dumbfounded. I was somehow glad the 'Head' of the bad guy was stabbed badly on the stomach by Rambo himself or I would have just wanted to do it. hahaha... I couldn't help feeling a bit "Emo" with what they did with all the innocent people. Humans were like a toy for them. Very uncivilised! Oh Okay, I'm getting emo again, remembering the scenes. My verdict for this movies is an 8.5 out of 10. This movie is definitely for adults and no children please. The violence is 100% terrible. It definitely freaked me out. :p

Synopsis:
John Rambo has retreated to northern Thailand, living a solitary and peaceful life in the mountains and jungles. A group of human rights missionaries search him out and ask him to guide them into Burma to deliver medical supplies. When the aid workers are captured by the Burmese army, Rambo decides to venture alone into the war zone to rescue them.

Genres: Action/Adventure, Thriller and Sequel
Running Time: 1 hr. 33 min.
Release Date: January 25th, 2008 (wide)
MPAA Rating: R for strong graphic bloody violence, sexual assaults, grisly images and language.

Madamoiselle: Cuci

I was suppose to blog about this last week. I owe someone for being 'late' on the review of the malaysian movie "Cuci" . Sorry pompuanz, I was suddenly busy with a last minute work task I had to do and it had worn me out everytime I got back home. That's one of the reasons for my lack of blogging these 2 weeks.

I guess lots have watched this movie already by now. Truthfully, I am not a malay movie fan, even if I do, I only like to see their horror movies. This time, however, I made it optional. Actually, I had no choice!! My siblings planned to watch this and although I thought I'm not going to like it, I still wanted to join them to watch the movies. I 've been a movie addict for a year now. And how was the movie? I don't like it. Really! The storyline was light and relaxing and it was funny. No doubt about that. Not hilariously funny. Just entertaningly funny. I like it to the fact that it made me laugh and it's not too "capi capi" as most of the malay movies were and it's not a waste buying tikets to watch it. A fun movie for the whole family to watch and I'd rate it a 7 out of 10.

synopsis:

Four adopted brothers - Jojo (Awie), Fairil (Afdlin Shauki), C'tan (AC Mizal) and Khai (Hans Isaac) - leave their kampung and head to Kuala Lumpur to make it big in the cleaning business. Fairil, the most ambitious of the four, inspires them to enter the Window Washing Olympics for the most coveted contract of all - cleaning the windows of KLCC. But the brothers would have to survive the allure of organiser CJ (Erra Fazira) as well as stiff competition from current champion and contract holder Wira (Khir Rahman) to win the title.

You do not have to be tagged to play along. This game is simple and so are the rules.
1. Copy from *Start Copy Here* through *End Copy Here*
2. Add your site(s) to the list. Just be sure to post at each site you add.
3. Tag or don’t tag, your choice, however, the more tags you create the bigger the list will grow.
4. Let me know your blog’s name and url by leaving me a comment HERE. I will add you to the master list. (If you would like a scroll box code, leave me your email address and I will email it to you.) Scroll Box Example. (I decided not to use the box for the Big Bang for ease of copying.)

Madamoiselle: Sweeney Todd

Frustrated!!

I was excited when I saw in the papers that "Meet the Spartans" movie was shown in the cinema today for its sneak preview. When we got there, we were let down when they said that the movie was BANNED!! I am not sure for what reason but it was a real big bummer! I needed a laugh today but was disappointed with the banned thingy. I guess, the movie was not funny at all.Probably!

Despite of the need to laugh, I went ahead for "Sweeney Todd- The demon Barber of Fleet Street", a throat slashing story of love, lies, revenge, blood-splurting and meat pies. The surprising bit, it's a musical movie, lots of singing from start to end, horror and love type musical and I find it very unique. Johnny Depp looks almost the same as he was in "Edward Scissorhand" but without the cute pouting lips and scissors..hehehe.. The story had a tragic end, and I think I like it eventhough it felt tiring to watch it in 2 hrs straight with singing all the way. The songs was great, love the songs but it was like..thee whoooooole waaaaay of 2hrs singing...feels like being swayed to tiredness...sleep..hehehe..hey it's a musical movie I should have known. Still,I like this movie and I'd rated it 7 out of 10.

Synopsis:

Sweeney Todd (Johnny Depp), a man unjustly sent to prison, vows revenge not only for the cruel punishment but for the devastating consequences of what happened to his wife and daughter. When he returns to reopen his barber shop, he becomes the Demon Barber of Fleet Street who slits the throats of his customers and use their bodies to be made into meat pies by his amorous accomplice, Mrs Lovett (Helena Bonham Carter). Alan Rickman plays the evil Judge Turpin who sent him unfairly to prison, withe Timothy Spall is the Judge's wicked associate Beadle Bamford. Sacha Baron Cohen is a rival barber, the flamboyant Signor Adolfo Pirelli, and Christopher Lee takes on the role of the gentleman ghost.

Time: 1hr 55mins,
Genre: SRD, Suspense
Casts: Timothy Spall, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, Johnny Depp, Sacha Baron Cohen
Directed by: Tim Burton

Madamoiselle: P**s**D

Dear You,

These few days, this is what we all have been doing / feeling :

P -Partly
I - Ignoring
S - Some
S - Sick
E - Ego
D - Discriminators

I'm being irrational. Haven't been like this for a long time. You took our smile away and you are definitely enjoying it. Excruciating? Yes, We admit. It is painful. But We'll make sure you're not in your comfort zone either.
Thank you for trying to exist in our life. Thank you for your "Greatness" you have in yourselves. Thank you for being there when you're very much NOT needed. Thank you for colouring our world, another shades of gray.

Sarcasms? You have been our great icons. You thought us well. Some of us are learning our best to outdo you with your skills. Bear with us, We'll get better soon, Sifus.

So dear you, you or you, Take your time, you've thought you had found 'Glory'. Go ahead, show your prides, boost your egos, We can't be 'killed' with the tiny d*** you can only have!

This dedication goes out to all who thought that this could be for you hehehehe.... :p

Madamoiselle: Pulau Hantu

Just returned from the cinema to catch up a new movie . There weren't much choices at the Kiulap Mall, and I was planning for the Johnny Depp movie, 'Todd Sweeny' ??..I think, I don't remember the title. Unfortunately, yesterday was it's sneak preview and the movie will only be shown by this Thurday. Other choices I got is 'Cloverfield' and I am in no mood for a monster thingy. My Poq sister insist for a Ghost story and so watched the "Pulau Hantu" aka " Ghost Island", an indonesian movie, which tells a story about a group of teens having a last minute stay at a resort in an island. Okay let me just cut & paste the synopsis hehe...

Synopsis:

Eight close friends go on a vacation, but their yacht is then derouted to a secluded beautiful island. They decided to spend their holiday there. Out of their knowing, behind the beauty of the virgin island, there is a dark secret. While these eight teenagers are having fun in the beach, the spirit that haunts the island is lurking from behind and below, bringing death to them one by one.

I don't know why but I'm starting to lose interest with Indonesian ghost stories. No offense ...I used to like their ghost movies. They used to make good ones long time ago.But lately, they seem to run out of ideas. Or was it because, those times I was still a kid and was much easily scared off than now. Teehheee!! The movie was a 5 out of 10 for my verdict. I think I prefer to watch the trailer they had shown us before the show starts. It was another new malaysian ghost story called "congkak".. a bit freaky...I think I like that better though I still think "Jangan pandang belakang" had made a big impact to the audience so far these 2 years.

Okay, I feel tired now. Had a lot of things to do at the office this morning and had worn me out a lot.
Bon Nuit!!

Madamoiselle: Food for "Asyura"

Yesterday, was one of the important days of the Islamic Calendar which we known it as the "Hari Asyura" (10 Muharam).

(please click for a larger view)

Quoted from Ummah.net

Some celebrate this day by fasting, a sunnah to do. Others, like us at the office, celebrates Hari Asyura with "sedekah". Each of us contributes some food and had a small feast. On this day too, we celebrated the birthday celebrants of January.

I know its not a normal custom to bring this food to celebrate an islamic day but I made these coz I know my friends wanted to have 'em especially the pizza. So I made it specially for them. Hope they had enjoyed it.
