A Taste of Tom yam.

Hellew peeps,

A friend of mine has just opened up a restaurant and a bunch of us decided to drop by to have a taste of their chef's cooking, the husband himself, who is the main owner of the place. The place is located opposite of Hua Ho Delima, in which unfortunately...I've forgotten to ask for the restaurant's name...*erk* Sorry meymey :) . But it's easy to find, no doubt, and I promise I have to ask the owner the name of the restaurant and keep posted ;p...so much of a promotion eih!! hehehe....

Anyway, at the first impression of going to the place, We're a bit excited..it's like being in a Restaurant city when you started up a new restaurant..but this one in level 4-5.hahaha... no offense mey....it's a new restaurant...dun worry you'll build up as time goes......just like in RC. ;p

So here's the pics of what we had :

Fried Rice Tom Yam...Most recommended...I didn't ordered this but my friend but i do have a good taste of it ..totally delicious. I actually crave for this dish this morning out of the blue :p Am going to have this if i drop by next time:p

Fried Chicken Tom Yam. This is what i ordered and it taste good too but with a bit of an improvment. It's like having a chicken tom yum soup but less soupy. I like the taste of the chicken but for my comment, this one suits best if the tom yam sauce is a bit thicker...coz it'll blend more with the rice if it has a thicker sauce. but otherwise, not so bad :)

Wet Fried Kue Tiaw with sunny side up egg. I'm not a big fan of Wet noodles but i give credits for this. It's simple but very tasty. The sauce is thinner than the usuals but definitely blends well with the tastebud.

There's more in the menus that we'd love to try such as their 50cents "Nasi lemak Pusu". The aroma of this nasi lemak pusu were inviting but we didn't get a taste of it. Another dish that i find unique is their "Nasi Goreng with Ikan Liking". They even have kid's meal and the prices are reasonable. So Have a try peeps.... I'll let you know the name once i got it :)

To the owner, Good luck with the business...hope it'll develop to level 20++ hahaha..ingat RC wakakaka.....

*updated on 30/06/2009

Hellew peeps....as promised ..though it's late...just to let you know that the restaurant's name is MOJAYA's Restaurant..... :))) nda ja mey?? heheheh......

Seafood galore

Hellew peeps,

I love seafood.

Just the other day, I managed to go to "Bob Umie". Things do have changed and the place was uplifted with high permanent tents now. My most favourite food there, is always their stemed fish, cockles and crabs.

So that nite i went for all these...except for their cockles. Unfortunately, they were out of stock. Just look at the pics and drools ;p

The menu

The boss @ chef at work

Normally , I ordered the Garlic steamed fish, but for a changed we ordered Steamed Oyster fish...nyummzz...

Look at those big crabs!! Again, we usually ordered chilli crab but this one is tauchu crab...even yummier!!! Guess how much this is?? One plate of 3 big blue crabs cost only B$10.00.

Kailan veg with tofu.

Well, this cockles are not from bob umie as they have no stock so we ordered this on the next two blocks from bob umie. hehehe look how white the cockles were. ;)

Anyway, the crabs were the best. Am planning to go wif a few friends this saturday for more crabs hehehe...Bob Umie here we come :)

A Jolly Good Tummy.

Hello peeps,

Have been eating out quite a lot lately and just in a week, I had a scrumptious delicious food cravings fulfilled. One of my favourite restaurant that I get to eat was the "Babu's Kitchen". Located in the middle of the Bandar area right behind the BIBD building, anyone or everyone who's been in Bandar for quite a while will know that this is a favourite eating outlet for the townies as they have food deliveries in the fastest pace of time compared to all other delivery outlets and with such large varieties of food, we just love to order here. Amongst the favourites is the "American Breakfast" that we lurve to have during our coffee breaks. Unfortunately, I haven't got any pictures of the food but here's the place looked like...from the outside hehehe..

Next food stop, was for big snack time and I almost have forgotten that this place exists! hehehe.. It's been a while that I last set foot here...like t'was a year ago ;p . The place is small, simple but relaxing and with very yummy food. Of course, everyone knows when I say, "London Kebabs".

Despite of just having it last nite, I'm still craving for it again..hmmpff!!

The last delectable big feast I had was today's lunch. Had been wanting to drop by to this restaurant for quite a while but it had been closed for quite sometime and now had reopen for business. It's a Thai restaurant and we had fully jolly belly after lunch. Here's what we had;

Steamed Fish in Soya Sauce, Kang kong Belachan, Tom Yum Prawn.

Pandan Chix

The place.

On the whole, I need to go on a diet!! hahaha...

Au Revoir everyone!!

Penyet for new love?

Doesn't that makes you feel hungry?

Few weeks back, I drop by to someone's blog, in which i don't exactly remember who's blog that is, and read a review on this Nasi Ayam Penyet. It's located in Jerudong and as I am a regular at this area, I have always passed by this place but had never got the guts to drop by to try it.

Fortunately, I have friends whom, as I am, are food adventorous and they actually had gone there and told me the same review as of the blog that I've read on earlier. So without wasting time, I persuaded them to have lunch there a few days ago and i'm glad i did. It was superlicious despite of the long awaited service that they haven't managed to cope up with. The place isn't any posh restaurant but a small "warung" that looks isolated and unpopular due to the old burnt Thai workshop just right next door. In fact, it was in the same building, half ruined , while the other half used by this restaurant. I don't even remember seeing any labels of the restaurant's name but if you want to look for it, it's just right opposite of KTM Restaurant in Jerudong and you can see their green banner saying"Nasi Ayam Penyet & Nasi Pece Lele"..something like that..hehehe.

Go on try it, I'm sure you'll love it. Warning though, service is bad...it took so much time for the food to arrive, even when we had called in 2 hrs earlier to ask them to prepare it for us for lunch time. So many came for tapau, the one reason they could not prepare on time for us. Well, it's worth only $2.00 compared to other places, that is cheap. But then, for the reason of a smaller portion of chicken. The best part of it is, the "sambal", which was made like the traditional indonesian style- "grinded manually" therefore , that's probably the case of the bad service ;p.

The Escape.

Hellew peeps,

I've been neglecting my blog for quite awhile and I could not help but envy other bloggers who seemed to be constantly updating their blogs with full loyalty..hahaha...Honestly, I've been quite hooked with "face-booking" ...and the other things that needed to be done and so the lack of concentrating to this beloved blog of mine. So today, I spared my time to write something and somehow had no other ideas of what to say except to tell you guys the food galores that i've been having a lot lately...thus the gain of weight of a madamoiselle *erk* :p

Just last nite, my sister Oleev and I had a shopping to do and came across "Escapade". Sis Oleev was not a sushi lover but she does love the other japs food and so she could not help but crave for another Japanese dinner. Without wasting time, we head for "Escapade" in Kiulap. This is what we had for dinner:

Squid something..i forgot the dishes names heheh.

really! I only ate and dun even remember the dishes names :)

this i know..Chicken Ramen

Chicken Curry Udon

Matcha Ice Cream

After dinner, got back home and slept like a beauty *uhuk* for having such a scrumptious fullfilling dinner..hahahaa

That's all for today folks. See! I really haven't warmed up yet with my blogging and i couldnt come up with anything interesting yet. Till then, I'll be writing back in a few day time, hoping i could come up with something better than i have today heheheh :p

Gud nite peeps and take care!

What's for Raya??

Hellew peeps!

Three more days to our big festive season...and that's Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Hoorey! I just came back from the Mall Gadong and ho boy!! Ain't there lots of people flocking around with last minute shopping. Everyone has a big smile on their faces, knowing that it's time to have new things and there's something to celebrate soon. Somehow it felt nice to see so many happy people and have to meet some familiar faces too.

Anyway, It's almost midnight now but I just could not sleep. These few days had been so chaotic for me. As the festive season is too near, there's just so much to do, but so little time. Tomorrow I'd be having another "Batik cake" session, the last batch I'll be making for this fasting month. Just the other day, I've already made about 48 pieces of the cake and it has been so exhausting , yet very satisfying. I love the finish product and the few comments that i had from my friends. Some had already gobbled up their cakes and did not preserve it for Hari Raya, in which the initial plan of the purchase was for the 'Day'. *wink*

The 'Batik Cake' is one of the essential cake that most people serve for Hari Raya. I had always loved this cake and it would have felt something missing if this cake was not served. It always reminded me of my childhood days when not so much fancy cakes were served compared to this modern times and back then, the Batik Cake has been always there on the menu. Nowadays, there's just so many versions of 'Batik cake' that the originality of it has somewhat faded. Some people had added horlicks, vico and even cream cheese for the newer versions of the Batik cake. Mine would be the middle ingredient and had a very chocolaty taste wise , good for chocolate lovers.

Actually, I never intended to have sales for this Raya, but upon huge requests from close friends, I just gave it a try. And my sales are at the moment, only around my closest circle of friends and not many people knew that I'm selling them, till the last minute ..hehehe sorry peeps, I could not expose the sales, as I, myself could not see myself in making more than 50 pieces, with all the other work burdens I'm having.Maybe next year then.

So the final product of my sales is what you can see here.

I haven't got a picture of the cake as you can see it's all wrapped up in a plastic so that it'll stays good till the festive season and can be kept into the fridge without getting any moist seeping into it.

By the way, I purchased some delightful biscuits for Hari Raya from a very talented 'Baker' and I just love her creations. Let the picture speaks :)

Nyummm... nyummm... I just love the sight of it. Okay peeps.. It's been a late night. My bed's calling me. Till then, Take care and nighty night ;p

Madamoiselle : Weekend Food Galore?

I've made this 2 days back. A new experiment and a knock out..hahaha.. I love cheese, I love chocolate and this is my new love. A simple mini chocolate cupcakes frosted with cream cheese. Brought this to my siblings, and I've already been booked for a baking session this Friday. Well, actually, I've already been booked when baking this hehehe... I'm hoping to try new recipes in the future. I wish I got all the time and a well equipped kitchen to accommodate my new love affair..."Baking & Cooking." Ghee....

Last night, Dad knocked on my door. He asked me if I could make pizza for dinner. *chuckle* That was a surprise for me actually. He hardly makes requests. I can hardly even treat him for a jolly good eating out without him saying to me " Try not to waste your money and save it." Dads!!

So I made his favourite "Honey-Chicken Pizza". Luckily, the pizza base was still available in the fridge. I just have to make the toppings. But that's just not it. I got into a mood to prepare more. I had a baguette sitting in the fridge and my mom loves garlic bread. So I made that too and in addition to that, made Baked Tuna-Mayo topping for the left over baguettes for varieties. And I end up making baked mashed potato too. That's what we get to have for dinner last nite. Not that we always have this :) Unfortunately, I only managed to snap my Baked Tuna Mayo Baguettes to show here.

With lots of Cheese...nyummm...

Oh, Since I'm talking about food, I made these for lunch too, yesterdays lunch that is. Didn't take pictures of the whole food, just the ones I made though hehe...

Salads

Home-made salad dressing

Steamed Tom Yam Fish

I gotta go now. I'm not feeling that cheery actually. That's why I need to post this food galore ... just to keep my mind away from unwanted things. Anyway, I hope you have a better days than mine. Take care peeps.

Au revoir! Bon Nuit!

Madamoiselle: Brownies, Muffins & Cuppies

Did some baking session the other day for some friends' request. A friend wanted me to make a Brownie, another wanted me to bake Cuppies. Not to disappoint any of them, I made those the other day and discovered a liking of muffins. Some of you might have seen my brownies and cuppies on my previous baking sessions post on the Food Talk categories. The muffin is, however, another new tested recipe.

Here's some pictures of my bakes.

hehehe..Dusted a lil too much of the confectioners sugar.
But to taste, it wasn't that sweet at all.

My Buttercream Choco Cupcakes. Still not good with the frosting. Boy! needs a lot of practise.

Finally, my first Blueberry Muffins.

My Blueberry Muffins were a blast to my surprise. Everyone loves it. That's a compliment for an amateur baker like me hehhee.. Honestly, presentation wise, I'm not good in that, but most of my friends love the taste of my bakings for its mild sweetness and the taste of it. Well, I hope my learning of it gets better. As a food lover, I also want my self-made food as good as my taste too right hahaha...

Since when I'm into this foody thingy? Well, I've just started into "The Kitchen" actively early last year. My interest came when we had this mini breakfast and sometimes lunch gathering in the office and we normally brought our own food to share with. I like to make and start learning foods that are of my favourite. So mostly, my close friends and colleagues are my food testers for my baking and cooking sessions. I'm glad most of them likes my "food-work".

Anyway , When I made those food above,
I intentionally baked more than as requested because I wanted to send it to my Poq sister whom had never tasted my bakings. Thankx to my Poq sister, I suddenly have a bigger request for the brownies. She shared it to her colleagues and they like it. So another baking session will set for tomorrow evening and I'm not sure if I can juggle my time if there's more to come. Ho, boy!

Madamoiselle: Fun Donuts

How many times had I wanted to get those, that's how many times I had turned myself away, avoiding the never ending queues that wasted my holy time. Today, however, was the day, that I determined to go ahead and follow my heart..err..more of my tummy actually. I want to get those, and I got that exactly!

Finally, I bought my first pack of Fun Donuts after neglecting so many attempts to get it but was only disappointed by the long queues that I don't want to get stuck with. Call me Lazy!

So what makes this "New-in-Town" Donut shop the latest craze of our lil' small town? Their donuts are absolutely soft, fluffy, and best of all the sweetness are just mild. Goodie... Dunkin' Donuts are way too sweet for the tooth and this one is just alright. Better still, it's not even oily. Okay enough of promos. I'm munching off my last piece away.

Bon Nuit!!

Madamoiselle: Food for "Asyura"

Yesterday, was one of the important days of the Islamic Calendar which we known it as the "Hari Asyura" (10 Muharam).

(please click for a larger view)

Quoted from Ummah.net

Some celebrate this day by fasting, a sunnah to do. Others, like us at the office, celebrates Hari Asyura with "sedekah". Each of us contributes some food and had a small feast. On this day too, we celebrated the birthday celebrants of January.

I know its not a normal custom to bring this food to celebrate an islamic day but I made these coz I know my friends wanted to have 'em especially the pizza. So I made it specially for them. Hope they had enjoyed it.

Madamoiselle: My Midnite Cuppy Experience

A friend wanted me to make some cuppies for a small Hijrah celebration last night. I couldn't resist eventhough it was last minute. So the night before I made her the cuppies and I was done by midnite as I started baking it late. Imagine decorating it by midnite and I was making them at our almost outdoor kitchen and it was indeed a very quite night.

It was a funny shivery experience though. I was never scared being alone at home even at night but that night, while decorating the cuppies, when the clock strikes 12, I suddenly had goosebumps at the back of my neck and I don't know why. It freaked me a little but I had to finish all the cuppies so I hurried up with the decors. I was in a not-so-comfortable situation with the sudden goosebumps. Half an hour later, there were no more goosebump feelings and I had finish my cuppies. Unfortunately, after all the fuss I'm experiencing, I was a bit disappointed with the outcome of my decor as it was not as pretty as it was supposed to be. I can't blame it though, how could I decor when my mind was a bit crazy with the sudden shiver I got.

Blue stars and Yellow Moon over white chocolate coating and Chocolate base cupcakes.

Pinky flowery frosting over chocolate coating and Chocolate base cupcakes.

I hope my friend and her family likes it. I'd make it up to you the next time I make it, insyallah. :)

Madamoiselle: Cuppy Blues & Sikui

I'm having a cuppy-blues since saturday. Haven't been ordering from the Cupcake Queen yet so I decided to make it myself instead. I've made a blue buttercream frosting over my choco spread on the vanilla cupcakes. I just love a blue cupppy. I don't know why. My first batch of cuppies were the ones with the lovey dovey decors. I really like that cute red lil love. Since my lovey-dovey sugar decor has run out, I've replaced my next batch of cuppies with all different kinds of mixture. These was what I've made last night for my colleagues today.

Anyway, the other day, a friend told me his silly watermelon story. He was quite new with the internet , I can say a bit naive about it. He does chats and a few surfings but not that much of an explorer of the internet. So one day, he wanted to surf the 'Apple' website but was not sure with the address. Yeah, i know, he should just 'google' it or logically, just try apple.com. Instead, he asked his brother and gave him this..in which he did try to surf it...and of course it does not work. Guess what's the Apple url is? WWW.SIKUI.COM -->> 'sikui' means Watermelon. wahahahaha.... and he didn't even realised that his been fooled until he tried surfing his melons ..hahaha. Apple = Sikui..Get it? hahhaaha.. No? okay this is lame.

Anyhow, I tried a few of these qiuzzes thingy and got the results...That's a step ahead to know me better *wink*.
